Endangered Animals series
1. Introduction
A brief introduction to the animal, including an introduction to the animal's body parts and a description of the animal's characteristics.
[How to use]
1. Learn words (vocabulary) and phrases (phrases) that express each body part and use them appropriately when describing the animal in question later.
2. The five features at the bottom summarize not only the appearance but also the characteristics of the animal, so it is easy to memorize these sentences in their entirety and use them in future short writing.
2. Interesting Story
This part consists of interesting stories about the animal, including basic background information and things we didn't know. The sentences are not long and consist of the easiest words possible, but if you don't understand the text, scan the e-book QR code and use Google Translate to check it in your native language.
[How to use]
1. First, look at the image and make an inference about the content before reading the passage.
2. Next, read the entire content lightly. Even if there are words or expressions you don't recognize, try to get the overall vibe - no interpretation is necessary.
(With the e-book)
3. Scan the QR code to watch the related video. The video summarizes items 1 and 2 and will help you understand the passage. (It is spoken in an American accent at 80% of normal speed, so it is easy to understand).
4. Scan the QR code to listen to the passage narration. Listen to the same narration as the passage, the first time with your eyes closed, and the second time while looking at the passage. (This is done with a British accent and at normal speed).
5. Scan the QR code to view the passage and if you don't understand it, translate it into your native language using Google Translate on your Chrome browser. Look at the translation and compare it with the English one.
3. What's Happening
Describe the current situation of the animal, using images and prints to give an idea of how serious the situation is. We also identify where the animal is in the seven stages of extinction and think about what we can do to prevent it from moving on to the next stage. We should also try to pinpoint the habitat where the animal lives and work to stop the destruction of that habitat.
[How to use]
1. Read the prints and summarize the animal's current situation as follows
- Current situation of the animal / reasons for its current situation (try to find other reasons that you think of besides the reasons given in the passage - this will be a good idea for practicing your writing later).
2. Identify the stage of extinction of the animal (NT, VU, EN, CR, etc.) and search for the characteristics of that stage.
3. Look at a map to familiarize yourself with exactly where the animal lives and find out what other animals live in that area.
4. How We Can Help
The preceding lesson provides actionable steps to help protect animals and gives you direction on how you can start taking small steps on your own right away. There are many organizations and institutions working to protect these animals around the world, and you can visit their sites to learn more about them and to donate to help them directly.
[How to use]
1. Read the passages and understand what they say. Underline the key points about what we should actually do and make sure you understand what it says.
2. Read the ways to protect that animal and write down at least one additional action you can take. You can use this as a good source for future writing.
3. Check the images of the international organization that protects the animal, and then go to their website to get more information (passage/photos/videos).
5. Comprehension
This section checks your understanding of the previous lessons and consists of 7 questions. The correct answers are included at the bottom, so you can grade yourself.
[How to use]
1. Solve the given problems. First, look at the question and try to infer which part of the textbook it was in.
Example) Features of the Introduction / Interesting Story / What's Happening / How We Can Help, etc.
The goal is to remind yourself of the overall content, not just to get the right answer.
6. My Animal Calendar
Create an animal calendar as the first piece of content in the activity section. The activity section is a very beneficial program because the results are derived from students' actual hands-on activities, so please prepare carefully.
[How to use]
1. Color the outlined illustrations by hand to complete the picture, remembering the characteristics of the animal from previous studies. You can color in your own background in addition to the outline.
2. Choose a month of your choice and write down the days of the month and the dates that fall in that month. Write down important events to help you organize your schedule. If you write with a pencil, remember that it can be reused. Once you've created your calendar, cut out the left-hand perforation and keep it, and you have your very own calendar. There is an assembly diagram for the puzzle on the back of the calendar, but you shouldn't have any trouble assembling the puzzle as it comes with an additional assembly diagram in the puzzle wrapping.
* There are 12 animals in total, so collecting the entire series will give you a full year calendar.
7. Instruction
Assemble a 3D model of an animal using two sheets of foam board.
Instead of simply attaching the parts, try to think of the assembly as creating a living animal.
[How to use]
After assembling the puzzle, remember the introduction of the animal body and the characteristics of the animal and give a short presentation in English while holding up the animal puzzle model.
8. My Animals's Album / 9. AR
Parts 8 and 9 work together to make a great animal album by printing out pictures of your animals on sticker paper and cutting and pasting them together. Use the AR parts to create photos with animals.
[How to use]
1) 1) Scan the QR in the top right corner of the AR page. For Android, any phone or tablet will work, as the app doesn't need to be installed and launches right away. However, for iOS, search for “Endangered Animals AR” in the App Store and install it.

(You can also use the screen recorder to make a video of you and the animal together, e.g., a video of you and the animal running.)_ In case of i-Phone, just capture the screen instead of using camera button.
3) Write in your own words in the box at the bottom of page 10.
This entry is about introducing your animal friend to others, and you can practice outlining and presenting it.
Create an animal protection poster with the 6 coloring sheets included in the package.
Made of coated paper, they can be colored with crayons, pencils, colored pencils, and even paints.
After coloring, create your own animal protection slogan to complete the poster.
The coloring sheets from the Endangered Animals series were created with the help of a student in Thailand. It was done 100% by hand, no computers, pure creativity.
